Around the house

We were going to go into Melbourne again today. The original plan was we go tomorrow, but then Michael remembered that tomorrow is payday, so that couldn't happen so we changed it to today, trouble is, I had already told Miriam that TOMORROW was the day we were not going to be here so last night she said she was coming over with another sister, Zibbiah, so that was the Melbourne plan out the window :P
Never mind, its my own fault.
Actually I don't really mind as it gives us all a chance to rest a wee bit.
My sister shows up with Ryan, baby Ebony, and Zibbiah in tow at 9:30am, which was way earlier than I expected her, AND Michael and I were still in the middle of breakfast, so I was off guard, but not unhappy.
We finished up quickly and  their short visit was very nice. They were only here about an hour, so I didn't have the where-with-all to get any photo's but I figured I might snap a few shots of life at our place as it was at the moment. Almost smoke free and happy.
I got a couple earlier on of Malachi playing on his 'computer'.

And then later of Eli in there.
And here is a squizz of the havoc the rats have made of their cage,
(it will be fixed when the baby rats are older, for now we all have to cope)
Freddie here is showing his age, but the smoke hasn't fazed him a whole lot,
And Butch is as smelly and quirky as ever.
The guinea pig cage was just moved to a new grassy spot,
And Muffin and little Victoria are very happy

Phebe is keeping Daddy company,
As he works on the chook house,
And here is our green waste pile
That has to live there a little while longer yet as the green bin wasn't emptied last fornight (they never showed to pick it up) and obviously there will be no burning!!
I made a sour milk chocolate cake,
And the children helped me with the icing ;)

And finally here is a shot of what the ash looks like all over our house,
I am hoping there will be HEAVY rain so I do not have to clean it up!

    1. Hi kelza!
I found the recipe here, http://www.mybakingaddiction.com/black-magic-cake/, and have made it twice so far. The issue I have with it is as it is such a large batter I split it into two cake tins, and they both sink in the middle :/ but on the up side I simple whip up a batch of stiff whipped cream, fill up the hole on the bottom cake, turn the top cake upside down, and hey presto! Hole filled with cream! So its really a win ;)
