Washing Machine Died Again

First the boys bed was wet, so that was an extra load of washing on top of all the bathroom linen I usually do on Saturday, and then I discovered OUR bed needs to be changed as well, *sigh*
Then the vaccuum cleaner goes on the blink, and Michael is at 'ninja school' with the older two, so I was beggared if I knew what to do with it!
Moving on I suddenly realized my spinner wasn't working in the washing machine. wha-aat??
Okay, smaller loads in the spinner seem to fix it, so I washed up, clean the kitchen floor, spray the bathroom with bleach, and come back to the vaccum cleaner.
One hour and to washing spinner loads later and I'm FINALLY done with the lounge room, though its a poor job, over all.
Too hard.
moving on.
ACK! Washing spinner no worky AT ALL now! What am I going to do?? Hang the washing out wrung by hand and still wet.
moving on.
Michael and children home at 2pm. LATE lunch!
Never mind, Eli asleep. Yay! Somethings going right!
Michael speaks to vaccum cleaner, and it working better.
Finish lounge room
Michael in process of speaking to twin tub washing machine. Looked hopeful, but false hope. Washing machine refuses to work. Seems something has worn out completly, and not only does Michael not feel completly sure WHAT is not worn out, but is pretty sure you cannot buy replacements for it.
*sigh*
Okay, so we then hit the ol' computer trying to find a replacement twin tub.
The reason I want a twin tub, and not an ordinary washing machine is because I can get all my washing (usually) done with 40 litres of water a day.(which I usually do not have to pay for, sort of) Just a wash . I use woolwash and do not rinse. If I get tough spots and stains then out comes the nappy soaker, and if its REALLY tough I use bicarb. But I am getting away from myself. 40 litres, right? with a normal washing maching I would use between 55 and 110 litres of water a day. Also I mentioned about not having to pay for the water? Well the twin tub gives me a lot of flexibility as to where the water I use comes from, as well as how much I use . I can get away with reusing the bath water on most nights, but after its rained (which its often lately) I use the water I collect in a little water tank outside the door.
In the photo you can see the tank closest is the one we keep the bath water in and the one further away is the one that collectsa the rain water:

Its very rare that I use water specially from the tap to fill the washing machine. Hence my insistence on another twin tub!
Okay back on topic :S
We searched high and low for a twin tub and came up with two options. The Betta Electrical in Moe could order one in for us, and we'd get one in three weeks. OR We could order on on line and spend $60 less and get it in one week. Hmmm.
Naturally we are getting the one on line, as a week is better than three, not to mention the saving, but it still leaves me without a spinner for a week :( Oh well. The blessing is that we could get a new tub!
Till the new tub arrives I will be washing the clothes in the old tub and wringing them out by hand, and they will drip dry on the clothes line, and then I will bring them inside once they are no longer dripping and cook them in front of the fireplace (lol!).
Michael is trying to get the back veranders roof up so I do not have to worry about rain, but he is only one man. All we can do is pray the Good Lord graces us with clear sky's till either the new machine arrives or the roof goes up, eh?

  1. We nearly lost our washing machine this summer after a huge storm took our power out for days. I was working on a load when the breaker popped and started burning the motor up. Some how it worked again when the power was restored.

    1. Do you have an older washing machine? Mum has suffered something similar, and hers still works, too. But I just KNOW that if that happens to ours it would DIE! I'm thinking it has something to do with the age of the machine at this point...
