Campng with the Bigg Boys

On Friday Michael was in a stizz! He was preparing to go camping with the mens group from church, and it was proposed to be a real 'bushy' weekend!
So first he pulls out his little two man tent, and makes sure all the bits are there. Then he inflates the matress he's gonna sleep on to make sure its got no holes in it, then he packs those, along with two sleepingbags, a change of clothes, some eating utensils and a billy with some coffee, a small first aid kit, and a couple other bips and bops. He actually remembered everything but the camera!! So no photo's! But the account he gave later was they were up in a far corner of some ones property, where there was no noise, and no insects (!!) and they had an awesome weekend of riding, shooting, and fellowship!
They had to shoot a roo the first night for their Saterday night's dinner, but they didn't arrive at the camp site till around ten, so the hunting didn't commense till around midnight! As a result, there was no bed time for the weary travellers till around two am! But they did bag a roo, so all was well.
Michael says the rotton matress deflaited on him in the night, and he had to pump it up, but it turned out that he seems to be just too big and heavy for it, so we will be saving for another type of camp bed for him in the future.
I was told of delicious porridge, damper, stew and other mouthwatering things, all made over the camp fire. Also of adventures with bikes, guns, bows and arrows, and chainsaws. apparently they made themselves a table using nothing but trees and a chainsaw!
Aside from the lack of camera and a dodgy bed, he tells of the best time of his life and I am so jealous! I love camping!
I have scavenged one photo from some one off FB, but there are no others as yet, and Michael is not in this one, but it is better than nothing :)

I was at home with the four, and I was slightly aprehensive at first, especially when the computer went down, but I had the best time!
Malachi took over breakfast for me! He knows Michael usually lets me have a little sleep in as I still am on night duty with Eli, and so he told me he wanted to do breafast! I showed him how to use the ladder, and showed him where the cereal and bowls and glasses were, and cautioned him not to give his sisters ANYTHING without asking them what they wanted first, and he did it! It was awesome! Even now that Daddy is home he has asked to keep doing it, and all is good.
Hadassah made marmelade muffins with rose icing with minimal help (though she used the electric mixer, like I do, lol) and we took them to church, where they were ooh'd and aah'd over and all eaten up! Yes, we even went to church and I did Sunday school as normal! Malachi and Hadassah stayed with people I trused while Elein and I popped out for prep, with Phebe and Eli, and we went through everything as normal.
I think the only problem I had was Eli. His bed time routines revolve around the computer, and with that taken away he figured he didn't need to sleep! :P :P But we managed somehow, lol!
I even managed to can some apple sauce, and some apple strudle filling, and make some marmelade, and then do some mending!
When Michael came home Sunday evening it was a great home recieving! And we talked and hugged and talked! Michael didn't get around to fixing the computer till Monday afternoon, but we did realize how it has been ruling our lives recently, and we noticed how relaxed we were without it. Like a holiday :)

  3. The computer is so much a part of everything we do too. Especially for school, we use it all day long. But I do wonder how much more cuddling we could do without it!
