Yet Another Birthday, and a Christmas party.

Malachi's 8th birthday was the 21st, and he was sooo excited the night before, he could hardly get to sleep!
The morning of his birthday dawned sunny and warm, and he was up before seven, bouncing on the bed and being generally as cute as possible, so we got everyone into Mumma and Daddy's room and Malachi opened his presents on our bed.
Well, all but one. His new scooter was too big to be wrapped, and was sitting pretty out in the middle of the lounge room, waiting to be noticed. Which it was...eventually, lol!

This day, unfortunatly, was also our fortightly shopping day, but Malachi was happy to stay at home while I went out early with Hadassah to buy food. I planned on buying his cake this year, because with all the stuff that was being done and yet to be done, and also it still being really hot, I wanted to play it safe, but I also wanted Malachi to choose his cake, so the plan was to buy it a little later.
At lunch time Dasah and I were back with the first wave of food and various shopping items, and we were a little unnerved and put out, as there seemed to be a lot of bad attutudes out on the roads and in the shops today.
We all piled into the car after everything Dassah and I bought had been put away, along with a load of rubbish we couldn't fit into the bin, and off we went to the dump. Once there there was the greatest of difficulty backing the darned car into the slot it needed to fit into as there was some small confusion on my part as to what angle the car was ment to be in, but we got there eventually, much to the children's relief. They had been tormented by a daddy long legs all the way to the dump, which had surfaced from the rubbish very shortly after we left home, and the children HATED him!!
Next we all drove into Morwell to the bike shop there. Earlier on in the week the children had recieved some birthday money from their Granny, totallng the grand sum of $25 each! They were given a choice of how they might spend it, which included going to the toy shop and buying whatever toy their money could buy, buying a special breakfast for the trip the Nanna's house on Christmas morning, and helping to buy a bike rack to sit on the rear end of the car and hold their bikes so they could be taken to Nanna's on our trip. They had chosen the bike rack! (knocked me socks off, let me tell you!)
Now, the rack we wanted costed $170, and the childrens donation only knocked a wee bit off that, and we were prepared to take the3 excess cost on the chin and have a lean week, when that very morning a gift card arrived in a Christmas Card from Uncle Heady and Auntry Michelle! This was exactly what we needed to get over this hurdle without going without! Yay for Aunty Michelle and Uncle Heady!
Once the bike rack was installed the drove around and finished our errands and got home again, hot and bothered, but satisfied.
About half way through putting the last of the groceries away, I made a horrifying discovery! We had forgotten his cake!!
Off went Michael with Malachi to get the cake while I finshed putting stuff away, and when they got home Malachi had chosen an enormous chocolate sponge! Delicious though it was, I viewed it with some dismay because the dratted thing wouldn't fit in my not-so-small cake tin! Never mind. Malachi was pleased with it, and that's what mattered :)

The final activity for the day was driving over the church for dinner. The chuyrch was holding a Christmas dinner party and we had been invited to come. It was a God send, because it meant we didn't have to cook or wash up!
Dinner was roast beefr with baked potatoes, and pumpkin, steamed peas and beans, and cheasy broccoli! NON NOM!
Then the church ladies gave each of the children a present, which they were delighted with! Malachi got a glider airoplane, Hadassah got a celidoscope, Phebe got a puzzle, and Eli got a couple of little cars!
Just before we left Phebe snuch down the front where the speakers were and some how managed to turn them all on full ball, almost deafening everyone in the hall, and scaring the living dayights out of herself!!
Needless to say we left very shortly after that! But everyone forgave her, so all was well.
Night all! Hop you are all safe and well :)

  1. The cake looks very yummy. It sounds as if Malachi had a great birthday. I have two grandchildren who also have birthday's very close to Christmas and we also have to make sure they don't miss out.
