My husbands birthday is coming up really quick, and I got him an early birthday present!
At the pet shop a while a go he expressed great interest in the axolotls, and so I filed this away for thought. This year I had the means and opportunity to buy him a couple, so I did just that! He is just tickled with them!
But then I had a problem. I had told Hadassah she could get fish, and she was mighty unimpressed that her Daddy got pet sea creatures before SHE did! So I had a chat with Daddy, and she was allowed to get her fish, too.
So now we have five new additions to the family. Two axolotls, and three gold fish!
Hadassah and Phebe have a tendency to be rough with their toys, Michael and I are always gluing or sewing something. Well, Hadassah brought me this doll that had its head split open, and I got HER to mend it! That's right, she did it herself!
She did a good job of it, too!
Malachi and Daddy made a lava lamp! It was so cool! With a cup of water, a cup of vinegar, a cup of olive oil, some food colouring, and lastly a couple of table spoons of bicarb soda, and bob's yer uncle! Lava Lamp! Woot!
And my little Phebe scored a new toy, too. In a jar I cut up a dozen or so pipe cleaners, screwed the lid on, and gave her a fairly strong magnet. Instant toy!
Also I think I've sorted the problem of them falling asleep every night during Bible reading! Malachi and Hadassah are now finger knitting whilst Daddy is reading. And they are even listening! (Michael checks every now and then by saying something ridiculous and random to see if they notice - they do!)
That's a great lava lamp! I just read this post the other day and didn't realize we inspired you! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you! Yes, you inspire me for all sorts of things, lol! We use the ACHS curriculum (http://www.aceministries.com/homeschool/) and we supplement it with whatever takes our fancy. Its been rather erratic, but recently I was introduced the homeschooling notebook recording (http://www.homegrownlearners.com/home/2013/5/20/using-notebooking-pages-in-every-area-of-your-homeschool.html and http://thechaosandtheclutter.com/archives/3815) and we are going to adapt it for ourselves next term.
