This is really late being written up because I have been really sick. I caught a virus off my son that went straight into my chest, causing me to need both my puffers to breath properly, and a pillow to elevate my head to boot. Naturally I was in bed because I had no energy to do minor things like, say, stand. After a week I got sort of over that I lost my voice and had constant nasty head spins, and this has lasted another two weeks. Now I pretty much have my voice back and my head only spins in the afternoon, yay!
A few weeks ago I noticed both my girls had grown. Phebe's ankles and wrists were showing well below her cuffs, and so was Hadassah's from most of their P.J's, so this needed to be fixed!
First thing I did was give the three P.J's that Hadassah had grown out of the Phebe, and remove the ones of Phebe that were too small, (Boxed them up and they are away in the shed now). Trouble was, now Hadassah only had two warm P.J's left to wear, and this was not quite enough, as all the children like me to wash their night wear every day, and the weather cannot be relied upon to dry, so she needed an extra pair. Trouble was there was no money. Hmmm.
I discovered I had a large piece of pink polka dot material in my chest, SO!
Hadassah helped me with the threading of the elastic into the pants waist, and the sewing machine behaved very nicely. (I must note here that up till very recently my machine and I were at odds with each other. Every time I tried to sew anything either it ate the material, it spewed out all its thread on the underside of the garment, OR it tensioned the thread so tight the darned stuff broke!! It turned out that the 'good' thread I was using was actually rubbish, as the lady at the sewing shop told Michael. He had taken it to Traralgon in desperation as none of our problem solving had helped. The lovely lady did not charge us anything but $3 for some of her thread, and the machine has worked great ever since!)
I think Hadassah looks very nice in her new P.J's, that only cost me $3, instead of around $20 from the shops :D
Michael has been trying to loose weight. He has been getting out of breath very easily, and its concerned him. But it is not easy for him to do, as he refuses to go to the gym, and the time for a walk is never right :/ So what he has done is made his food portions smaller, and has got onto fructose granules for his coffee and tea, instead of sugar.
This is a terrible shot of him as he is slouching and letting it all hang out but you get the idea. He is 140 kilo's here, and is 138 kilo's now. But he seems to have stopped loosing again.
Malachi has been tearing through his schoolwork and a terrific pace. I was trying to slow him down, because I was conserned that him doing 15 pages in under two hours means he is doing it too quickly to retain any of it. But what I think I will do instead is give him more in each PACE to do. Its gonna get harder, and surely he will slow down then!
Phebe can write her name now! Its in the correct oder and she writes the first letter as a capital. I am so happy! Stuff like all the letters being the same size or written neatly on the line is irrelevant! But she is so full of life! I snapped her on the back veranda a little while ago,
She is using what is around her as props for her game. Admittedly muggins that is me had to clean it up afterwards but this moment was priceless.
I hate snails. I hate them with a passion. I had four brussel sprout plants that were ripening nicely, and almost ready to harvest before I got sick. After my week in bed I made my way down to the veggie patch to see how everything was and this is what I found.
There was nothing to salvage. A whole years work gone. I had to pull them up and toss them. some snails fell off as I was pulling them out, and I made short work of them.
Dratted things. Even snail bate isn't enough to combat their sheer numbers sometimes. I can't wait till I get chooks. But who knows when that will happen.
Oh well, enough of that. Michael made us a very nice dinner the day I discovered this. You can imagine I was a little bit wild.
And he kept the mood light that evening before Bible reading
So I am not too ruffled now :)
