Bonfire Evening

It feels the same way this time every year. One exciting activity to do after the other, and it feels like they come so thick and fast us oldies have no space to breath in between them!
It was Bonfire Evening this Saturday gone. Our wonderful deacon, Uncle Neil, holds one every year. This one was a little light on people wise, as most people were catching up on their rest for the church camp the following day, but we went, and it was just lovely. More personal, rather than a whole heap of people trying to get at the food, know what I mean?

The children love going to the farm because it is so unrestricting. The older three made a new friend, and Eli was happy to faff around with Mummy and Daddy.
He spotted this little vehicle here, and spent some very happy moments driving it (after Uncle Neil had hurriedly retrieved the keys!)

As you can see here, there were a few chairs, but Uncle Neil had pulled up some tree trunks with his tractor to use as extra seating.

Some of the people here. In the top photo, the bloke in the middle next to the dog is Uncle Neil, and the lovely lady in the middle picture is Aunty Merilyn, our host and hostess :)
Towards the end of the eating it suddenly cooled off, and everyone scrambled for their jumpers!

My children were quiet happy when the bonfire was lit, but all the others (there were about six other children, all older than Malachi) were over behind the tall line of trees, playing with an electric fence. (see? Kids know how to entertain themselves without a TV or computer game! :P :P )
We finished the evening off with sparklers, bubbles and show bags. A lovely evening, spent with lovely people :)

  1. It looks like a lot of fun! Isn't it great how kids can make their own toys or find their own fun when they need to - of course, that's when they can get into a lot of trouble also! LOL! Speaking of bonfires, I see in the news that there are a lot of forest fires in Australia - I hope you aren't effected by any of these!

    1. Hi, Vickie! Thanks for popping by :)
No, all the bushfires are in NSW right now. We are beneath them in Victoria. But that being said we are following the news, because I have a lot of relatives up there!

  2. The fires must be very worrying for you Mrs Yub.

Your bonfire looks great. I need to light one at my allotment but ironically it's far too wet over here to do it.

I think the NSW bushfires are easing while its cooler, I hope they can get 'em properly under control before it gets hot again!
