Here they are hairless,
Miss Splinter looking sweet for the camera,
And here they are just a few days ago, all hairy and cute,
And here is Steve, the Daddy,
And here are the little ones on the move,
And back in their nest again,
My main problem with them is they are on the wiffy side, but in a week we will separate the babies from mum, and then another week and they will be off to the pet shop, and in the mean time, Malachi is very happy with them :)
My son had a pet rat! His name was Templeton - after the rat in the story of Charlotte's Web. Templeton was so tame that he napped in bed with my son but never ran away or got lost! At first, I wasn't so sure a rat could be a pet, but Templeton turned out to be a great pet! Alas, when my son left for college (no pets in a dorm) he had to give Templeton to a friend and apparently he died soon after. :( I think he was almost five years old when he died, which is good for a rat.
ReplyDeleteRaising an animal, breeding it and selling the offspring is such a great lesson for kids! I hope Malachi has a wonderful time with his rats!
Thanks :) Right now he is too scared to do much with them as Miss Splinter is nippy, but he is loving the babies antics!
