L V S N.

Since we met this chap, Simon, and his daughter, Charity,at church,we have been working with him to get a community help center off the ground to help people get over the mine fire.
Since the fire, and the governments response to it, moral in Morwell has been really low,as it really gives you the impression no one cares and they would rather we were not here at all,and that we are just a big pain in every ones side, you know?
So what Simon figured is,if we can get help from the people who are supposed to be looking after us,we should help ourselves, which I think is a good idea. The thing is,you gotto help people to get them to help themselves.
It is called LVSN, Latrobe Valley Support Network.
Simon has rented thus huge building and we are slowly fixing it up. Sectioning off the inside for the free shop, and the office,a kitchen and a laundry.
Outside there is at least three quarters of an acre which we are going to turn into a community vegetable garden.
The whole area is called HQ.
While all this is happening we have been having a free shop at venues in different surrounding towns, and it works out that the free shop is held every week, but only once a month in each town.
Basically the free shop is like a garage sale,or an opp shop, only there is no money changing hands. You com,you leave what you don't want, and take what you do want.
Also there is sometimes food available. Fresh, or tins or jars.
Michael is the secretary, and he is in charge of the monthly news letter, the membership forms, the bills, and any other paper work.
Simon is the chairman, and the over all organizer. He is full of ideas, means, and is great at generating interest.
I am helping out with the garden.
Last week we out to Yinnar Community Garden. They  had organized a bbq for us. Trouble was, our original garden organized quit, and she hadn't told Simon about this bbq, and he only found out about it the morning of the day it was happening! So he was making frantic phone calls to every one involved to get them to come, as it would have been really bad form if no one had shown up the this bbq after the people there had generously given time and means to have it!
Finally we had three car loads of people come.Roughly seven children and seven adults.
Yinnar Community Garden showed us around there set up, told us about their journey so far and gave us lots of advice and tips. Also they gave us some plants. And the food was great! The people were very kind, and easy to talk to.The whole visit was well worth it.
The children spent most of their time on the play ground that was next to the garden. This play ground was awesome! It had an old fashioned see saw in at AND a round about! The children had never seen a round about before,so that was what they mostly played on,lol!
The bbq was at 3pm,we arrived around 2pm,and we left at about 4:30pm.
Instead of going straight home,we went to HQ, as Simon promised a bonfire. About five minutes from our destination,Hadassah threw up in the car!! We couldn't stop! They had to cope till we got there.
Naturally when we arrived everyone piled out of the car super fast, and we all went into the building while Michael cleaned up the van. Don't worry, We kept busy by moving some stuff someone had left in the front out to the back while Michael was busy, that way we were all working.
We arrived first, but every one else got there shortly afterwards, and we had the promised bonfire, which kept the children happy, and Simon fired up the bbq, and we had more sausages and what not.
It was a lovely day, but I think I'm over  bbq's for a while,lol!
