Granny has been planning a trip to visit us from where she lives in Tasmania for some weeks now.I didn't tell the children about it till just before she arrived,in case something changed, but when they did find out they were oh so happy!
Granny came over on the Spirit Of Tasmania to Melbourne, and then caught the train from Melbourne to here. She arrived in the evening, tired but happy, and the children fell on her with hugs and kisses.
We moved Hadassah into Phebe's bed, so Granny could sleep in Hadasssah's bed, and Phebe slept in the camp cot.Everything worked out fine.
The first day we took it easy, so Granny could get over her trip.
The second day we had a picnic down at Immigration Park beside the pond, and the children rode their bikes, played on the park, fed the ducks, and everyone relaxed.
The third day there was a Kid's Expo on down at Kernot Hall with free entry,so Granny and I packed up the children and drove down there to see what was what.
It was a great turn out. All the displays were free, and we picked up lollies, fruit, show bags, and balloons for free.
I did loose Eli and there was a small panic, but he had just dashed back to a corner of toys I had previously told him 'no' to, and he slipped out of my grasp and dashed madly back to that spot before any one saw him. Needless to say he stayed on my back after that and was some what unhappy about it.
The fourth day was our big shop, so I took Hadassah, and we bought all the groceries. After we got homeI had to do the washing and then sloshed the washing machine water on the plants. After THAT i started to feel a bit dizzy, but put it down to tiredness and ignored it. The Dizziness did not go away. It got worse.
8 pm that night saw me clutching the bed with my senses almost leaving me. The bed felt like it was moving in one direction, the walls like they were spinning in the other, and I felt sick to boot from spinning so bad!
Michael called the ambulance and it was at 8pm that they arrived and took me to hospital.
The hospital took me to a waiting cubicle with some anti nausea tablets, and that is where I stayed with Granny (who followed us in the car) (Michael stayed home with the children, who were asleep, Praise God) until 2am in the morning.
Now, the doctors don't know why I got dizzy. They theorize in MAY have been stress (I was working pretty hard and Michael had been having a severe downer) or it MAY have been my back was out, (I have been having mild back pains) or it MAY have been an inner ear infection....I still don't know. But it went away by itself, and they let me go home.
I did discover that laying on that narrow bed in the same position for so long caused me to catch a chill in my leg and I was in agony the next couple of days, but I tell you what. I would rather have pain that that dizziness, ANY day!
The rest of Granny's stay was spent quietly, and she went home on Monday.
So we got to spend a lovely, but dramatic week with Granny, and we will all remember it for along time!
