There had been a lot of hype about the house, as the locals had put alot of effort into it, and also they seemed to keep having stuff stolen or vandalized, but they kept soldiering on.
The afternoon was going to be packed! We had Charity with us from three. She was going to dress up with the children. And an L.V.S.N.meeting at 6pm, and then we were going to go collect the Kukune's straight after the meeting and drive nearly 40 minutes to get to Rosedale.
Okay! Bring it on!
Charity arrived full of beans, and we set about doing the children up.
Hadassah was a vampire
Phebe Raggity Ann
Malachi was Death
Eli a pirate
And Charity a ballerina.
After their makeup was done we headed off the the meeting, which turned out to be so-so, because Michael and I had to keeping popping out to get Eli out of what ever mischief he was in so we only caught half of what was going on.
Then after that we raced for the car, and tore home again to collect a few forgotten things, and the back on the road to the Kukune's.
We didnt make it far up the road before we met the coming the other way, so we just turned around and off we went to Rosedale.
The Park where the Hunted house was set up was packed! They had food vendors, specialty stores,a huge bouncy castle and more! And almost everyone there was dressed up! It was amazing!
The first thing we did was line up for the Haunted house! The line was already enormous, and even though we got there early, before the doors opened, we were still waiting in line nearly an hour! But so worth it!! Beetlejuice opened the door for us!
The house had been set up as a series of hallways, and each hallway had its own earie lighting, dim yellow, some purple, some blue, but all spooky!
The first room had a dead secretary manikin in it which no head and one hand chopped off with a pen stuck through it. That gives you an idea of what it was like right there.
The children handled it pretty well.Martha had left Bubba outside in his pram with a security guard because he was asleep, and the pram wouldn't have fit anyway! Michael had Phebe and Charity off each arm,I had Eli on a hip, and Hadassah on an arm,and we were all coping okay till half way through, when we got separated due to a hidden door he found before I did!
Then a little while along Hadassah lost it when a dead girl burst out of the wall and screamed right in her face.
There was the witches room, who mocked us because we could't find the door, the dead mans room, who was hanging from a rope in the ceiling, the surgery room, where a dead girls was on the table with all her wobbly bits hanging out, and the doctor kept jabbing at them with her needle, and every time the dead girl looked at you, or moved...
Malachi, who was in front of me, got irate at a legless man, who grabbed his cowl, Malachi turned around and snapped, 'don't grab my cowl!',the legless man gurgled at him,'I can if I want to!' Malachi then retorted, 'I'll hit you with my scythe if you don't keep your hands to yourself!' The legless man jeered,'You can't hurt me! I'm already dead!', and reached for Malachi again. SoMalachi donked hom on the head with his scythe and stormed off! LOL!!
Eli didn't like the corrugated iron hall, because there were people banging on it and howling and wailing, and it was really noisy.
And finally The last room had the chainsaw massecure guy in it, and I was being pulled in one direction by Hadassah, and dragged in another by Eli,and so fell over a pile of dead body parts in the corner while trying to get by the guy with the big chainsaw!
The children were madly excited! Even Hadassah, after she had gotten over her fright.
We headed over to the bouncy castle after the Haunted House, but discovered that it was $5 a person to go bounce, which was a bit too rich for us, so we had the choice of watching the out door movie (Haunted House, lol!) or going the the park. The children voted for the park.
As we were heading over there I ran into, shock horror! My sister! I was so surprised, because she hates Halloween! But she told us that her husband was working, so that explained that.
She came over with us, and talked to Martha and me while the nine children played on the playground in the dark with all the other children.
We finally started to head back to the car at about 10pm... briefly stopping at the hotdog stand for hot dogs as the children were hungry.
Said good bye to Martha and the children, before driving home.
We got home, washed face, feet, hands and teeth, and rolled into to bed around 11:30pm.
What a wonderful evening!

The kids look so cute... or should I say scarry! That haunted house sounds great! Personally, I don't like to be really scared. Since I was the youngest child in my family, and my older siblings liked to watch horror movies, I got a good dose of them when I was young. To this day I will have nightmares about vampires and zombies! Of course, I know they are all fake, but still..... However, I think I could handle a haunted house, especially if my husband was right there with me! :D How funny that you ran into your sister - and wonderful! It's nice that the kids could play together at the park. I'm glad you all had a good time.
