Okay so the very day after our walk I WAS called to show up for jury duty, but I wasn't needed till midday, which was good, because I had a dentists appointment just after nine, and I really wanted to go!
The dentist was pretty happy with me. He is going to cap my baby tooth (I have a baby tooth instead of an incisor on my bottom jaw. Its getting a wee bit tender), and he scheduled me for another time to do that. Otherwise he says I have amazing teeth :D
I showed up at the court house, and everyone is shepparded into this large(ish) room to await further instructions.
There are around 200 people here! It was amazing! The reason being it turns out, is because the case was expected to last 3 to 4 weeks, and they wanted to make sure they had plenty of people to choose from.
The first day was simply an introduction to the system, and then a weeding out of all those who couldn't commit for that long.
About half the people left.
I got home around 4pm, only to have a quick dinner and wash and then be at the church by 6pm, to have a meeting with the elders about Sunday School (with my co conspirator of course).
The meeting went very well, and everyone left happy. Basically they wanted to introduce us to a curriculum they want us to use, and it turns out it is very similar to what we are doing already, so no worries!
Bed.
Sleep.
The next day I had to go back to the court house, this time nice and early.
The people who were left the day before all showed up again, and this time we were introduced to the judge, where even more people gave excuses not to continue, and we were halved again. From 200 down to about 70 or so I reckon, in just a couple of days.
The people who were left were then left in the court room with the judge, his helpers, the accused and the lawyers.
The people who then went up to be the jury were called randomly and so long as they weren't challenged by the accused or his lawyers, made it to their seats!
I wasn't called.
But I enjoyed it none the less. It was different from my routine, and has given me lots to think about!
I always hope I don't get called while I'm nursing. That is a fear of mine. :)
