Saying goodbye to one pet, and Hello to three new ones

The passing of the white peepers really shook me. Michael said when he got home and saw me I was as white as a sheet.
What to do? I couldn't get any more while Butch was around. He'd just eat them again.
It took about a week for us to make a decision. We were going to give Butch away.
This decision was not made soly because of the peepers. Butch was also starting to menace the rabbits and the guinea pigs, where as before he was fine with them.
So next came the problem, how to go about finding a nice home for him? If we advertised him, any rat bag might call up!
So I started browsing Gum Tree and FB for little dog want adds. Mostly people wanted puppies, but one add stood out.
It was a very simple add. Simply saying, dog wanted for company for my husband.
I messages the person saying I have this dog, he is this old, he is used to this and this, and this is the reason why we cannot keep him. The person messages me back as interested, and asked many questions. Finally we arranged a meet up.
On the day I was pretty anxious. What if his is one big farce? But I was comforted as they had asked us to come to their house, and they wouldn't do that if they had something to hide, would they?
It turns out they were pretty genuine, and But he seemed to take to them pretty quickly. I drove away sad, but comforted. I had a feeling these people would be good to the little dog.
Good bye Butch. I wish things could have been different.

So for the next few days I was all weepy and quiet. He and I had a special relationship. But I couldn't have a dog who couldn't share, and he wanted all the attention for himself. Since the children are very attached to their pets, I wasn't going to ask them to give them up for one little dog. But Butch seemed happy where he was, so there's an end to it.
Next step was trying to get more peepers!
No one seemed to be selling Silkie pullets now. This was terrible! Finally I got back onto the lady who sold us the original two, and she said she had some left. Yay!
So off we went, back to Dumbalk, which is an hour away, to see what the lady had.
Turns out she had three of the original brood left. I was only after two, but I got a little worried about leaving the last one by itself, so Michael bought all three for me!
There were two muddy browns, and a muddy grey one.
They stayed in he basket that night. We got home at 6:00pm, and we were all wiped.
The next morning I put them into the big chook pen....where they were promptly attacked by Fat 'n' Sassy! So I whipped them about of their and tried to put them into the big yard....where they were crowded by the cats! So I herded them into the guinea pig cage!

Argh! Paranoid much am I? Yes!
But it turns out they were not happy in the guinea pig cage, so I cautiously took them out again and put them back in with the big chooks, then fed the big chooks so they'd leave the peepers alone. This seems to work.
So here are my new babies!
They have been in there about a week now, and so long as they keep out of Fat 'n' Sassy's way, they seem to be fine.
