The way it swings

We have been having sleep overs these past two weeks with another one coming up. We have some pretty close friends at church who have children in similar age to our own, and while they have just moved into their house and are not yet organised enough to have our children sleep over there, they have been taking turns at sleeping at our place every Saturday night. I have had two of them over so far, with one more to go, but the rule is I only have them one at a time, lol, so these things take time, lol!

We have this only day bed that has been sitting down in the shed and it has been perfect the our guest to sleep on, being full length but narrower than a normal bed. Fitted into the girls room easy when Tomuto slept over the first night, but was a squash when Chollil's turn came, and Mondan will also be in the boys room, so we'll squeeze it in again, lol! The children are having a grand time, though.
Hadassah caught her Daddy's tummy bug, causing her and me a lot of constination for a couple of days and also causing me to keep her home from church while I sent the others off with the Sunday School lesson without us (it was my turn for Sunday School as well, but I had forgotten about this, and my partner has very understanding about it, lol)(I am doing the next two weeks lesson's as penance, lol!) She is better now, and none the worse for wear.

Michael has been working outside, trying to chip away at some of the jobs out there. He almost managed to finish putting the shade cloth up, but discovered he couldn't till he had finished the gutter, so that has been put on pause till we can buy some gap filler for the gutter.

Then he moved the side fence

and put the water tanks in place, but we have discovered that in order to use all the tanks happily we need to connect them to a pump. (we are going to connect them to the toilet and the washing machine). So that has been put on hold while Michael nuts it all out in his head.

But we did finish knocking together some crates fot the cats to play on out the front, so that is good!
Schoolwork has been going steadily, Malachi has been going as fast as he can, it is a challenge to get him to slow down enough to retain some of that which he is ment to be learning, lol! And Dassah is going steady. She doesn't pick it up as fast as Malachi, but, so long as she doesn't get bored, she goes really well. And Phebe is slowly learning her letters. She is still not terribly interested, but yes, we are getting there. And Eli is trying to quote his ABC's and can count to four!
Sewing lessons have been postponed temporarily till I have calmed down a bit. The first lesson went up in firecrackers because a certain little miss decided she knew better than I, resulting in her loosing a needle and making a mess of the thred when I turned my back on her for a second. We will pick it up again later.
Cooking has gone better. The children are compitent in making cereal and milk drinks for lunch, and sandwiches of all descriptions for lunch :D
It has been so hot! The last couple of nights it hasn't really cooled off,

but Praise the Lord today is cooler!

  1. I do feel for you in the heat you are having, it must be so hard sleep, let alone working and teaching the children!

I'm sorry to hear some of you have been poorly, I hope you are all well now?

    1. Yes, we are all good now. Just Michael and Hadassah having a particular nasty strain of the tummy bug the rest of us got. Poor Hadassah got some heart wrenching tummy cramps that at the time I could do very little about, but yesterday I came across this page: http://holisticmamas.com/a-natural-remedy-for-my-toddlers-stomach-ache?awt_l=BOGtd&awt_m=3ZDFojftmKdTkFQ and I wish whole heartedly I had seen it then! I am now going to make sure I have peppermint ol in my medicine cabinet!
It has cooled off somewhat with two days of rain and a current coolish and VERY pleasant breeze happening rigght now, but the forecast is for it to heat up again, so we can only hope the weather keeps its enthusiasm to a minimum!

    2. That one was in a cabin that they had for us. But there's another sleepover tomorrow night here! We've got lights strung up and sheets to make a princess hangout!
