Hot day, Birthday Number Nine, and a bit of Garden

The day that Michael's Uncle Neil and Aunty Nancy arrived here from their three day drive from Brisbane was a whopping 40 degrees. Admittedly it was only the one day, but what a welcome, eh?
We found out the day after that they arrives safe and sound, thought the caravan park they went to first had closed up shop for the night. Fortunately they found another just around the corner and down the road a bit, but Aunty Nancy said if they hadn't found it they would have shacked up on our back lawn! Here are Phebe and Eli hogging the air-con at around 7pm that evening,

Malachi was sooo excited the night before his birthday he could hardly get to sleep! The morning of, he was up bright and early bouncing around. I think he was pretty pleased with his gifts,

We has a small party at the Town Common in Morwell, and the Kukunes and Uncle Neil and Aunty Nancy joined us. It was Really windy, and was threatening to rain so we didn't stay long, but the children all had enough time to bounce all over the wooden play ground, and Malachi had happy Birthday sung to him over a dark chocolate iced fruit cake (no candles, WAY too windy) He and Hadassah then opened a joint present from Granny. It was a crocheted blanket that looks like a creeper from the computer game Minecraft.
After that it started to drop big fat rain drops so we packed up and went home (only to have it stop again shortly afterwards!) but it was okay because the Kukunes had left two presents each for Malachi and Hadassah at our house.
While the children laughed and played us adults all chatted and relaxed over coffee and tea, and Martha fell asleep.
It was a lovely day, and Malachi was very sad to see it end.
My garden is finally starting to kick off! Its summer and its looking like what it should look like in spring :/  Oh well.
Here is a pumpkin vine in our pomegranate tree,

And zuchini's on the vine :D

Nath arrived just this evening with animals in tow. He is thinking about leaving the kittens with us now. I see no problem with this.

  2. I am glad Malachi had a wonderful birthday! Don't you just love Legos - except when you step on one in the middle of the night ;) My youngest son had thousands of those little building bricks and it really developed his imagination and spatial skills!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2014 full of happiness, good health, peace and prosperity!
