Moving Nath pt 3.

The  last day of our visit we pretty much did as little as possible. Well, let me rephrase that... Michael and the children did little. We were all stiff and sunburned from the day before.
Nath and I attacked the little shed at the foor of the garden that was full of stuff.
Out of this shed came photo's, letters and news paper clippings from the war (the lady who lived there's husband was in the Navy) some odd bits of furniture and gardening equipment, and a fair bit of kitchen wares, plus many little odds and ends.
Nath went through everything with me, and Took what he would use, then I was allowed to choose whatever I wanted (a little bit, there were some nice little things there) and the rest went over next door to the lady who we had met the day before, and she said she'd take anything that Nath didn't want as  she knew the family, and would pass it on, so very little went to waste.
I must share. Eli refuses point blank to have a shower. He hates the water flowing on him like that. So I put him in the laundry tub for the ablutions during our visit!

Phebe thought this a fine idea, so she had to bath there, too, lol!

This is the Fiona pussy cat. Mother to the kittens I have. She coped very well while we turned her world upside down!

Here are the children chilling out

So we left on Sunday. The plan was to go to Bendigo Baptist Church with Nath, and then after the service head home.
We packed up as much as we could the night before, and were off in good time that morning. It takes two hours to get to Bendigo from Nath's place, so we had to leave at around 9am.
Michael and I chatted most of the way there, so I didn't notice the supreme flatness of the land, or the straightness of the road quite so much as I might otherwise have done, but we were still glad to get there and stretch our legs a bit.
Quite a large church, and there were a lot of children there! I don't believe I have ever been to a church with that many children in it! The service was good. The pastor preached on how the Christian walk can be like baking a cake. If you do your best to follow what is right it can be good, but if you miss something out it can be yucky.
After the service Nath introduced us to the pastor and the assistant pastor, and a few friends, and after some chatting we said our goodbye's and home we headed!
And we got about half an hour out of Bendigo, in a picturesque  little place called Harcourt, where our car over heated.
This was annoying, because we had only filled the water that morning. Michael theorised it was the long sit out in the incredibly hot car park that did it. Anyway we had to sit and wait about half an hour for the car to cool off enough to get the cap off so we could fill the dang thing and move on!
Fortunately there was a park right next to us, and a petrol station right across the road, so we were right.

It was a nice little park, and there was information right there about the town ship and everything, so the stop was educational as well!

As you can see, we found shade.
After we had sorted the car we were back on the highway, praying hard the whole way! And it was a quick smooth trip! Even with the stop, it only took us six and a half hours to get home all up (including the two to Bendigo) and the signs were all easy to see in Melbourne so we didn't get lost, and we got home just after five!
We ordered pizza and chips for dinner, and while we were waiting for that to arrive we emptied the car and put it all away.
Now I must mention, we could not have done this without the help of my dear sister, Miriam, and her family. They stayed in our house for the week while we were away and looked after all our animals for us. Without this, we could not have made the trip. Miriam and Ryan, I thankyou from the depths of my heart. Without you this trip would not have happened.

  1. Haha - one of my boys didn't like showers when he was young either. Then, when he became a teenager we couldn't get him out! I'm glad your trip went well, but you must have been absolutely exhausted when you got back home! When you were talking about "the war", which war was it? I don't know much about Australia's history. Thanks for the fun stories!

    1. It was the second World War (heres a minute page about our various wars here http://www.anzacsite.gov.au/5environment/timelines/australia-at-war-1901-2000/1901-1913.html)
I am wondering if Eli will ever be happy in the shower! He is the ony one of my four who cannot be bothered with water.
