01 May 2011 Stop Gap

Well, we went to the bank to see if we could get any money to fix our van, and were turned down!!! Apparently since Eli is with us now we are actually worth less to them, and the extra we are getting from Centerlink is not enough for them to consider us for a top up loan!! Since we have no other affordable way to get the necessary funds, we ducked back to the mechanic and said this and this, and asked his advice on what we should do with the van. He said that because he was unable to start it he can't actually say how much needs to be done on it, and that it may not be worth fixing, What he suggested,(and we are going to do) is he will keep the van there while we 'save up our pennies', and when we have about three and a half grand or so we'll decide wether or not we will fix up the van, or simply buy one that is already going. It is very nice of him to house our van for us, since it really will take months for us to save this up!
In the mean time we have a car that is too small to cart us around, so it has been suggested from a (home) mechanic at church to fix a bucket seat inbetween the two front seats as a temporary stop gap, till we can afford to buy a bigger car, and then at least we can all travel around as a family! We shall proposition our mechanic with this idea and see if it'll fly with him, and if it does, we shall be a mobile family again! Yay!
In other breaking news . . .
Eli has officially grown out of the bassinet. The little bed being currently too short one end for the poor chap. I am about to trot down to the shed to measure the width of the cot and see if it fits where it needs to go - fingers crossed it will!!
Michael is feeling a wee bit anxious about his work load, because even though he is working at it pretty steadily, it doesn't feel like its lessening, you know that feeling? Hopefully he will be able to finish the boys bunk tomorrow so he can get onto the car *fingers crossed*.
