27 Jan 2011 My Australia Day

Yesterday was actually a very damp and soggy day, so the Australia Day celebrations were quite subdues around here, but I met many quietly enthusiastic people on my morning walk, so I know the weather didn't put a damper on the enthusiasm, just the activity, lol! Its so nice to live in an area where race and back ground doesn't matter, only the joy in the holiday that's supposed to bring us all together as equals! I love it!
Well, let me see, what did we do? Well, as I mentioned, I went for an early morning walk with Gaspode (who I steadfastly maintain is a holy terror to walk! He pulls and he talks and nothing you do makes an impression on him at all!!) and Malachi joined me this morning, and we chin wagged with a few people as we went along, saw that the ducklings were growing, smelled the brekky they were cooking at the TAFE and came home again starving!
Brekky was french toast, sausages, hashbrowns, and fried onions and tomatoes, yummy!!
For the morning activities the children played with their toys and later with some play doe, Michael tinkered with this and that, and I caught up on emails and the Sunday School lesson.
I can't remember what we had for lunch, but recall not being very hungry for it (I wonder why?) But after naps Daddy playeda Star Wars board game (Similar to, I think its Ludo?) and that took most af the arvo, after which time it was baths and dinner.
Dinner was meat pies and chips (too right, mate ) and we watched a movie called The Pirates that didn't do anything (Vege Tales), and after that I went for another walk with Gaspode while Michael did the washing up and got the children ready for bed.
Over all, a very nice quiet day :)
It was a real bonza day, so laid back. And it wasn't just us, either, but the whole area had a relaxed air about it! Unlike last year when the windows were vibrating on one side from a party (the house has since been knocked down, but they are proposing units there instead, so I dunno!) and on the other side was almost a constant tantilising smell of the barbie!
