On
Monday morning we got a call from the pound saying that Max (our 8 year
old labradore cross staffy) had been killed in a hit and run. Michael
took the call, and was absolutely devistated. The lady on the phone
wanted to know wether we wanted them to deal with the body, and he said
yes, and then cried for the rest of the day, leaving me to explain to
the children. not only why Max wasn't going to come home again, but also
why Daddy was crying. I was quite grumpy, as I felt that Michael
shouldn't be like that in front of the children, and told him so, and
was called a heartless freak for my troubles, but I'm sorry to say this
didn't earn him sympathy, but rather the children sided by me, and were
disaproving, not because Daddy was mourning Max, but because Daddy was
mean to Mummy in such a sad time.
This actually helped me a lot, as the preggers hormones were (and still are) in full throttle, and I don't think I could have coped if not for the encouragment of those three small people. Anyway, after I was able to have a calm think about it I decided, even though I was sad to say good bye to a friend of eight years, I wan't sorry he was gone because firstly, the fact that the pound found him and not us meant Michael didn't have to deal with a body (goodness knows HOW he'd have dealt with that!), second, he had started to growl at Phebe if she wandered close toi him while he was aeting, which he'd never done before, and I had been worried about that, and thirdly, I know he'd had to go to A LOT of trouble to get out of the yard, and if he was going to become an escape artist he would have been more trouble than he was worth. So RIP Max. You were much loved by all.
Tuesday Michael was much better, and apologised for his behaiviour, so we were fine again, and got on with the packing of the car for our holiday to Golden Beach! I had an ultra sound in the morning, so we could only pack the boot, and we had organised with Granny to watch the children so we could see the pictures in peace, but when Malachi heard this he kicked up a stink! He had to see the baby too! Sop the girls stayed with Granny, and Malachi came with us.
Once we got there and had passed the nearly half hour wait, Malachi was happy to watch the baby on the TV, but when it came to the last shot where they had to get a picture or the spinal cord in the neck, the baby decided to be unco operative, and we spent, oh, maybe about ten minutes trying to coax it into a position they could use. Nup, baby wasn't having a bar of it, and no amount of shoving, or shaking was going to change its mind. They ended up having to get the measurement from the wrong angle, but the lady said she reckoned it'd do.
Home we go, and have lunch, then finish packing the car, and off we go! Granny agreed to feed our cats for us, and there was only one dog in the car now, so it was all good.
The holiday itself was awesome! Fine, warm days with a bit of a wind, nothing like Morwell weather! Mum, Dad, and all the Aunties and Uncles greeted us enthusiastically, bit I was pretty rubish by now, and had to sit while Michael brought our bags inside and pumped up the three air beds. My three were enthusiastically looked after while this was going on, so he didn't have to cope with too much, thank the Lord!
We stayed till Friday, and the days were very restful for both me and Michael, as the children had ready baby sitters, and there was no stress to deal with. At night, Malachi and Hadassah shared a bed, I shared one with Phebe (BIG thumbs up from the Phebe person) and Michael slept with Gaspode.
Gaspode was rather quiet, (still is), and had to be kept on the chain at all times when not on Michaels lap or being played with or walked, but I think he had as good a time as a wee doggie could have. Michael took him for a walk once a day, and one of my brothers, Adon, also took him for a walk once a day, plus a lot of play time with all the younger people, and inbetween sleep time on Michaels lap.
The children walked to the beach at least once a day, and were so active I had to insist on arvo sleeps, because they got so tired, but guess what? They actually slept!! Extra quiet time for every one! Yay! And they had so much freedom there. Because the surrounding lots were empty, so the Aunties and Uncles took them to play hide and go seek and chasies. My three have never been able to do that before, and it ws like a piece of heaven for them.
I also got to spend some quality time with Mum, which was nice, as we don't get to spend time together that much, even when we visit, as there are so many people to spread your time around, but it worked this time.
When we finally came home it was a cold, cold day. On goes the heater! And very shortly afterwards I had to have a discussion with my three concerning exactly WHY they couldn't behave the same way at home that they were able to at Golden Beach (mainly to do with busy roads and neighbours). All in all, though, we settled back in again just fine.
Didn't have time to converse with my partner about Sunday School, so I had to let her know what was happening that morning and we pulled off an enjoyable lesson, though we did the singing sitting down, because I was not feeling 100%. Malachi and Hadassah were very happy, though, and they all coloured with gusto after the story, and as soon as they were allowed they stormed the room where the service was being help, waving various pictures to show the parent that was waiting with a half embaressed look on their face at all the noise their child was creating, lol!
Saw the Doc yesterday, and he told me that blood test and ultra sound combined I have a very healthy babe, and I have to make an appointment with the specialist next month, not with him, because there is nothing more he can do for me. Its all good. I am progressing!
There is more I'd like to write, but its lunch time and I'm starving, so I bit you Farewell!
Michael forgot to pay a $100 bill, and since the money is all spent (the fact that it was spent on food is beside the point, we would have managed)now we are behind in a debt that's going to take something like six weeks to make up for threw a crowbar across the channel, but I am reaching out for them vibes baby! Don't stop 'em coming!!
Oh and I didn't even mention how Michael had to clean three walls in our bedroom free of mould, because I was getting serious asthma in there, and while he was moving furniture around our bed collapsed!!!!!! I'm so glad it didn't happen while we were lying on it, but fair go! Poor fella!
