24 Apr 2010 My Great Uncle Ted

Great Uncle Ted was my Dad's Uncle, and he was the last digger to die. He was an average man with average opinions who happened to do an extrodinary thing - he survived.
This piece found here www.historyaustralia.org.au/ifhaa/bios/tmatthews.htm tells it really nicely, (my dad gave me the link), and here www.theage.com.au/flash/anzac05/video/video.htmis an interview he did (just scroll down to Ted Matthews).
All us family members miss him, even after all these years, as he recognized the inportance of family, and went to the trouble of keeping in touch, even if it meant ignoring fueds and family upsets.
Every one who reads this, please remember the Anzac's , and what family meant to them, and hold all family dear, even those you are mad it.
I'm glad the made an effort to tie him down and make him take that interview. I remember the to do surrounding it. He didn't want to talk about it, and he didn't want to talk to them. I don't know how they managed to hog tie him, but I remember the way he talked about it afterwards! LOL!
