My
mother-in-law moved beck to the main land from Tasmania a few days ago,
and she is staying with us while she gets on her feet again, and gets
her own place.
She was with us when our washing machine went kerplooey, and she was helping me with the hand washing that came after that (totally against my will - she kept sneaking into the laundry when I hasn't looking and doing it all!)
Well, yesterday she announced that it was too hard, and that the loads were too heavy for me (!) and that she was going to buy me a new one. I tried to talk her out of it, as she is a pensioner, and needs all her spare dollars, but she said she can get the deposit she needs for a rental from a mob whom I can't remember the name of, and so off she went and bought us a twin tub!! This is awesome, as a twin tub is a very efficient means of saving water, even if it is a bit time consuming.
So there you go. The drama has ended, and life returns to some form of formality!
I remember back when I lived with my family on the farm washing out side with two twin tubs for a family of 8, and the tubs were outside as it can be a messy business, and it was soooo cold, and everytime you had to put your hands in the water you wished you were a million miles away . . . but strangely I like the memories, the are nostalgic and nice . . .
